Uber Expands Its Footprint in Bangladesh with Launch in Chattogram

Uber, Bangladesh’s leading ridesharing app today announced the 
launch of its services in Chattogram, further expanding access to convenient, affordable, and 
technology-enabled mobility solutions across Bangladesh. With this launch, residents and 
visitors in the city will now be able to seamlessly request rides through the Uber app while 
drivers gain access to flexible earning opportunities.
Starting today, riders in Chattogram will be able to access Uber’s mobility offerings through the 
app, designed to make everyday travel more reliable, safer, and efficient. The expansion 
reflects Uber’s continued commitment to supporting urban mobility and economic opportunity in 
Bangladesh. 
As Bangladesh continues to witness rapid urban growth and increasing demand for tech-
enabled transportation solutions, Uber’s entry into Chattogram aims to improve access to 
dependable mobility while contributing to the local economy through flexible work opportunities 
for drivers. 
Speaking at the launch, Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin, MP, Minister of State, Ministry of Land and 
Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, said, “Chattogram is one of Bangladesh’s most 
important commercial and economic centres, and mobility plays a critical role in supporting the 
city’s continued growth and connectivity. We welcome Uber’s launch in the city and appreciate 
investments that create flexible earning opportunities, support digital innovation, and enhance 
convenience for residents and visitors alike.” 
Commenting on the launch, Redwan Rezvi, Country General Manager, Uber Bangladesh, said, 
“We are excited to launch Uber in Chattogram and bring our technology platform to one of the 
country’s most vibrant and fast-growing cities. Bangladesh continues to be an important market 
for Uber, and we remain committed to expanding access to reliable mobility while creating 
flexible economic opportunities for drivers. We look forward to serving the people of Chattogram 
and becoming a meaningful part of the city’s everyday movement.”
Uber first launched in Bangladesh in 2016 and has since expanded its footprint across multiple 
cities and divisions in the country.
